This group of photographs is from two periods of my career. The first period started when I was a student at Bard College. That work was made with mud and sticks often at night. I used multiple exposure for many of the pictures.
The second group of photographs started when I was a graduate student at the Yale School of Art and continued for 5 years afterwords. That group of pictures was made with snow, ash and flour.
In both groups of photographs I used my own body to make impressions or as a subject.
It was important to me that I could make images in any circumstance, and I considered it a strength that I had freedom to create without concern for a model.
